P&O Ventura refit

I’ve had an email from P&O about the refit that their ship Ventura is currently undergoing at a shipyard in France. Having read it, I have to report that there’s nothing terribly exciting going to happen. Most of the work seems to be the fitting of new carpeting to all cabins and suites, plus a […]

P&O have posted this video on YouTube about the recent refit of Ventura. It features a walk-round by Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen, which may or may not tickle your fancy. There’s nothing really new in it – nothing we didn’t know – but it’s interesting to get P&O’s take on what they see as important.

I’ve heard again from Phil Brown who got off Ventura this morn ing. Here are his comments of the cruise, Ventura’s first post-refit: I’m back home from the cruise now – an interesting time overall. Force 10 gales while going south over the Bay of Biscay. The stop at Oporto was cancelled as the port […]

And there you have it – the Glass House tree in all its glory! (Hang on – that looks awfully like the old Ramblas Tree…..) I’ve received some pictures (including the one above) from Phil Brown, who is on Ventura right now – many thanks Phil. You can see his images in the gallery just […]

I asked for some comments, and I’m already getting them! First one is from Bruce Fletcher, who has written as follows:- “As requested here is some feedback on the Ventura refit! First time on the ship so am unsure what it was like before BUT can see little/ no  evidence of new carpets etc. we […]

Ventura back at Southampton

As expected, Ventura arrived back at Southampton very early this morning. Thanks to all […]

Various people have been commenting in a previous post that Ventura has left Hamburg this evening. And indeed she has – I was there, I saw it. Well, not quite – I stayed in Sheffield and looked at the webcam! She backed out of the dry dock just before 10 o’clock UK-time, and then moved […]

And a bit more on Ventura refit

Ventura seems to have turned her AIS transceiver off – ever since arriving at the B+V dry dock she’s been visible on AIS, apparently marooned in the middle of the dock area. (Viewing the AIS results using ‘Satellite’ rather than ‘Map’ has been revealing the existence of the drydock in which she’s been berthed.) But […]

Even more on Ventura refit

I’ve just found a link to some more pictures of Ventura in drydock at Blohm + Voss, Hamburg. They’re on the ‘OceanLiner Pictures‘ site. The site owner says that he lives in Hamburg so perhaps he has access to the B+V shipyard. Anyway, there are some here, and a selection (larger-size) here.

And even more on Ventura refit

Sometime late yesterday (26 March) Ventura was moved from outside the Hamburg cruise terminal where she’d been since last week to Elbe Dock 17, a big dry-dock on the southern side of the river Elbe in the Blohm + Voss shipyard. That’s a (pretty poor) webcam picture of her in that dock. Also shown is […]
