I’ve been to-ing and fro-ing over the best equipment to take on a cruise in order to be able to immediately process photos taken during the cruise. In the past I’ve used a full-on laptop – I used to have a 15″ MacBook Pro – and that did pretty much everything but at the cost […]

Well, trying to. I had planned to be there on 13 July when the three Cunard Queens were in port together (for the second time this summer). I’d booked a hotel and train tickets (for which I bought a Senior Railcard! – now I do feel old) but in the event I didn’t go. When […]

Revised 'Photography' page

Just to say that I have updated my Photography page. It had got quite out-of-date.

Snow! and more snow….

This week is has mainly been snowing in the England. To have snow this early in the winter is unusual. Actually, over the last twenty years or so, to have snow (serious snow, that is) at all has been unusual – we’ve had a number of winters, especially between 1990 and 2002 or so, when […]

I’ve had my photos back, and I’ve posted some of them on-line. In general I’m pleasd with them. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere in the blog I took the Leica on the cruise, and this is a camera with little automation (that’s part of its attraction). Although it does possess basic metering, the user has to […]

Photography on the Solstice cruise

A couple of weeks or so ago I posted here about (among other things) my indecision over which camera system to take on the cruise. In the end I did indeed take just the Leica and my three lenses, plus of course a selection of films. These included several rolls of Ektar 100 print film, […]

I'm back….

It has been a very long time since I last posted anything here, which is not good! All I can say is that as our interminably long, wet, cold summer dragged onĀ  – a ‘barbecue summer’* it was not – I found it increasingly difficult to turn my thought to anything other than just getting […]
