Fred. Olsen Cruises have put the following bulletin on their website, to describe the current state of Boudicca and her itinerary for the rest of the cruise:

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ 880-guest ship Boudicca is sailing towards Tenerife in the Canary Islands, following a change to its 18-night D1502 ‘Cape Verde & the Canaries’ cruise, after a fire in the Engine Room at around 4am on Sunday 25th January 2015.

All services on board have resumed as normal. Photographs taken on the ship yesterday and today show guests enjoying the usual activities on board, both inside and out on deck (photographs can be seen on the ‘Home’ page of the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ website at www.fredolsencruises.com). Fred. Olsen would like to thank all its customers for their wishes of support and they are delighted to report future bookings were unaffected yesterday demonstrating the loyalty of its guests, with one, currently on board Boudicca, actually booking their next holiday for March 2016.

Once Boudicca has reached Tenerife on the evening of Tuesday 27th January 2015, she will stay for two days, while the cruise line will look to repair two main engines and electrical cables. Guests will then be notified of a revised itinerary for their cruise. Mike Rodwell, Managing Director of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, together with a team from the Head Office in Ipswich, Suffolk, will fly out to Tenerife to welcome and speak to guests on their arrival.

There were no injuries to any of Boudicca’s 784 guests and 356 crew members, and the ship’s Master confirmed that at no point were guests asked to don their lifejackets and gather at the muster stations, as the situation was contained within the Engine Room by crew members.

The well-being of all guests on board Boudicca is Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ utmost priority.

It’s obviously good news to hear that everything is ok on Boudicca.
