IMG_0369I’ve just seen the all-inclusive offer for Anthem of the Seas for 2015. At first I was a bit nonplussed by the ad – all I could see was the picture of the SkyHook-thingy and the words ‘This changes everything’, with which I couldn’t bring myself to agree. Then I read the advert more closely and saw the words ‘All Inclusive’. (Apologies for the quality of the image – this was an iPhone picture of a page in my Sunday newspaper.)

However, I now gather, from the video below, that in fact the ‘This Changes Everything’ strap line is intended to refer to all of the features of Quantum and Anthem of the Seas – ‘Part Spaceship, part Cruiseship’, and ‘The future of holidays is here’. There’s a link to the video on YouTube below. (I’m still not sure about that robo-bartender – will it understand ‘easy on the lime’? And how long before it pours a drink all over a customer instead of into a glass?)

Back to the ‘All-inclusive’ aspect. I wasn’t aware that Royal Caribbean did this, but there again I’ll be honest and say they’re not a cruise line I follow especially closely. So is this is a regular feature of Royal Caribbean pricing, or does it indeed look like a step into new territory? And if one of the major ex-UK lines is offering this, how will the others respond?

Here’s a link to a page on the RC UK site about it.

There is nothing that would tempt me on to the floating hell of a Royal Caribbean ship, all-inclusive or not.

      Thanks for the comment, Felipe

Now tell us what you really think!

Not for us either. If you look closely at what drinks are actually included it is very limited, not as ‘all inclusive ‘ as the advert makes out at first glance.

Hi Tom, RCI occasionally offer AI as an incentive, but NOT as standard.

Now when they are offering AI on a BRAND NEW ship, this clearly suggest bookings are NOT as healthy as they would like!

The funny thing about the Robot Bartenders, you still have to tip them!
