P&O’s Aurora departs on her 109-night 2014 world cruise in a short while, and I’d like to wish her and all those on her ‘Bon Voyage’. I did think that she was first of the world cruise ships to depart, but I gather that Queen Victoria left on Thursday. Adonia leaves for hers on Tuesday, while next Friday – 10 January – looks very busy: P&O’s Arcadia and the two other Cunarders, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth, all depart that day.
I’m not sure how much I would want to do a ‘worldie’ – there do seem to be a lot of sea days in them – but it must be an unforgettable experience, possibly for a variety of reasons. So I’ll wish everybody on board all of these ships the very best of voyages, and a hope that first few days won’t be too bumpy.
Looks like she has had to divert to La Coruna today (Mon Jan 6th) rather than being at sea en route to the Azores – one of the Headliners was tweeting last night that he wished the ship would stop moving – so perhaps a medevac ?
AIS is now showing her next port of call as Antigua. Maybe the weather in the mid-Atlantic was forecast to be too rough so they grabbed an unscheduled call in Spain – on the North coast, so perhaps out of the wind a bit – and will then proceed direct to the Caribbean?
