I mentioned in my previous post about these cancelled cruises that there was a broken link on the P&O Help page. I emailed P&O and got a reply today thanking me for bringing it to their attention, and indeed it’s now been fixed. (I have no idea if I was the first/only person to inform them, but it is fixed now.)

Clicking the link brings up a page with some FAQ-style Q&A entries. There’s a lot of stuff in it, but these seem to me to be the highlights:

  • Why have the cruises been cancelled? “This was a commercial decision after reviewing the cruise itineraries and the demand from our customers. We feel the new itineraries will appeal to a wider market.
  • Will passengers receive compensation? “Passengers will receive a £50 per person on board spend (including 3rd and 4th passengers).” Another reply says this is non-refundable if not used – i.e. if you don’t book another cruise then no compensation.
  • Will passengers’ out-of-pocket expenses be reimbursed? “We will be happy to consider reimbursing any reasonable expenses incurred as a direct result of this cancellation. Please write to our Customer Services team with details of your claim and any supporting receipts so it can be considered further. If you have booked your car parking with CPS or your coach transfers with Eavesway please contact them directly and they will cancel your arrangements.” That’s quite an interesting one.
  • Passengers who paid for Eavesway or CPS parking: “If you have booked your car parking with CPS or your coach transfers with Eavesway please contact them directly and they will transfer your arrangements to a new cruise or provide you with a refund.
  • Passengers had free Eavesway coach travel or CPS parking: “Unfortunately any booking benefits associated with your cancelled cruise are not transferrable, however if booking a new cruise under Vantage terms, you may be able to benefit from either or of these incentives anyway.
  • Transfer of OBS: “Unfortunately any booking benefits associated with your cancelled holiday are not transferrable.  The only exception to this is on board credit obtained under our ship visit programme, shareholder on board credit based on the new voyage duration or Future Cruise Deposit’s (FCD’s).” But: “Yes, your Restoration OBS may be used on a new cruise booking with P&O Cruises.
  • What about transferring OBS to another P&O booking I already have? “No, it may only be used against a future P&O Cruises booking.

Lots of interesting stuff above.

There’s also stuff on how passengers will be informed, and something about TA’s commission. Here’s the link to the Help page: scroll all the way down and click on ‘Q&A’.
